General Support
Practical support. A trusted voice when you need one.
Life can bring challenges that are difficult to navigate alone. At People Arise Now, we meet people where they are, listen to what they need and work alongside them to find a way forward.
Advocacy that puts people first
Sometimes getting help isn't just about knowing which service to contact. It can mean having someone who will listen, help you understand your options, speak up on your behalf and support you to navigate systems that can feel complicated or overwhelming.
Our advocacy and support can help people to:
- Be heard – helping you communicate your needs and make sure your voice is listened to.
- Understand your options – providing information and helping you make informed choices.
- Navigate services – supporting you to access the right organisations, services and opportunities.
- Work through challenges – offering practical casework, mentoring and support when things become difficult.
- Build confidence – helping you develop the confidence and skills to advocate for yourself.
Our support is built on relationships and trust. We work particularly closely with people and communities who may face barriers to accessing support, helping to make sure that people are not overlooked or left to navigate difficult situations alone.
Alongside advocacy and casework, our wider community support includes wellbeing activities, food and household support, mentoring, signposting and community projects.
You don't have to navigate everything on your own. We're here to listen, support and help you take the next step.
Justice System Experienced
Moving forward. Building a different future.
We support people whose lives have been affected by the criminal justice system, including people who have experienced imprisonment, people returning to the community, and families affected by a loved one's involvement with the justice system.
Our approach is practical, positive and focused on what comes next.
We help people to:
- rebuild confidence and stability
- develop practical and life skills
- strengthen relationships and community connections
- access education, training and employment opportunities
- overcome barriers to moving forward
- make positive choices and build a more settled future.
Through the Gate
Our Through the Gate programme supports low risk offenders who have 6 weeks or less to serve on their prison sentence and will be released in London.
Our team works closely with you to develop a personalised plan that addresses your unique needs, ensuring you have the resources and support to successfully reintegrate into society. Co-designing a personalised plan that addresses the unique needs, we provide that transitional and stabilising support to help successful reintegration. To that end, we maintain a regular presence at a number of prisons to begin and maintain the support through-the-gate.

Youth
Helping young people learn, create, connect and grow.
Our youth work gives young people safe, positive spaces where they can meet others, try new things and develop skills and confidence.
From our weekly youth group, Youth Ignite, to bike repair, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and community activities, we provide opportunities for young people to discover what they're capable of.

Skills for life. Skills for work. Skills for confidence.
Learning something practical can be a powerful way to build confidence and open up new opportunities.
Our skills activities give people the chance to learn by doing – whether that’s repairing a bike, growing food, making something, completing training or developing skills alongside others.
Our opportunities include:
- Bike repair and engineering
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
- CISCO networking and digital skills
- Gardening and growing
- Crafts and creative activities
- Community-based practical projects
- Training and development opportunities
Some activities are structured training; others are simply opportunities to have a go, learn something new and discover a skill you didn’t know you had.
Get Involved
People Arise Now is built around people — volunteers, supporters, partners, local organisations and members of the community who give their time, skills, resources or encouragement.
Whether you want to volunteer your time, support our work, donate, partner with us or make use of our community spaces, there are different ways to get involved.
